The building that houses the Bed and Breakfast is a late 19th-century structure built by a family of master builders and stonemasons.
The façade is dominated by white and Lecce stone, a material derived from a highly malleable tuff rock characteristic of the area. Staying in this charming B&B, you can admire the tools of the ancient stonemasons who carved the splendid stones that adorn the exterior, all handcrafted by the founder and builder of the building.
You stay in rooms built using typical Salento construction techniques, known as Lecce vaults: two are the most common vaults: the spigolo vault, very similar to the more famous cross vault, and the square vault, better known as the star vault; both are capped at the apex by a keystone that creates the thrust and balance needed to hold the entire structure upright.
The building's protection, however, was entrusted to a "santino" (small effigy of a saint) brought by the owner and buried either in the foundations or at the base of the hanging.
Don't be fooled by the choice of intense and vibrant interior colors: they are the result of careful restoration of the original plasterwork and allow you to stay in an environment almost perfectly faithful to the original construction, yet with all the comforts afforded by modern times.
The B&B is structured on two floors: on the ground floor, in addition to the common areas (reading room, breakfast room, and kitchen) and a garden equipped with a slide, swings, hammocks, and tables, there is a double bedroom with a private bathroom.
On the first floor, there are two suites and three bedrooms, all with private bathrooms. The outdoor terraces, overlooking the building's private orchard, are the ideal place for a relaxing and evocative breakfast.
The price includes daily cleaning, breakfast, utilities, and bed, kitchen, and bathroom linens.
All rooms are equipped with LED TV, air conditioning, hairdryer, Wi-Fi and safe.
